Lithium-air batteries have attracted much attention as energy-dense alternatives to existing batteries, but a number of hurdles must be overcome for Li-air to live up to its promise. In addition to delivering the predicted energy density, challenges include overcoming poor charge/discharge efficiency, slow charge/discharge rates and short cycle life. The most significant contributor to limited success with this technology to date has been the reliance on an outdated electrode architecture and inferior materials.

3-D Nanofilm™ lithium-air

Ionova's 3-D Nanofilm™ Li-air technology is being developed to address these issues. Our mission is to develop technology to achieve the best possible charge/discharge rates, the greatest possible cycle efficiency, the longest possible cycle life and the highest possible energy density for rechargeable Li-air batteries. In the case of primary single-use Li-air batteries, our 3-D Nanofilm™ Li-air technology is being developed to achieve optimal discharge rate and energy density.
